History/Ownership and Management of Rumors Night Club
Only a few people may know who Dotun Omotoye is, but many Lagosians will recognize the name Dotun Rumors. This well-known night owl, who enjoys partying in his club, co-owns the famed Rumors Nightclub with his pal and longtime business partner, Innocent Idibia, also known as 2Baba.
Surprising to many, Dotun has been involved in the nightlife scene since he was a teenager.
Dotun welcomed City People’s publisher SEYE KEHINDE, Society Editor TAYO FAJORIN-OYEDIJI, and Showbiz Reporter DANIJI EMMANUEL to his home, where he shared the amazing story of how he got into the business over 20 years ago, how he encountered Tuface Idibia several years ago, and the adventure of the clubs he had run before Rumors.
Opening of first Rumors Night Club in Ikeja
The first Rumors Nightclub was opened in Ikeja GRA in September 2017.
The entire Lagos mainland was a hive of activity, and emotions were running high. It’s best to characterize the vibe as contagious. Reservations are strictly enforced. The much-discussed Grand Re-Opening of Rumors Signature, one of Nigeria’s popular nightclubs, was finally going to happen.
On Friday, September 1st and Saturday, September 2nd, 2017, a 220 million brand new facility situated at No 15, Oduduwa Way, in the heart of Ikeja GRA experienced another convergence of Lagos’ affluence and prominence.
This was a significant moment because it is where the idea for what is now known as Rumors began several years ago. Rumors have sparked the tempo of the nightlife market and revolutionized what premium clubbing is all about in the short time it has been open.
Rumors is currently one of the common features in the Nigerian nightlife scene, with three top-of-the-line locations in high-end Victoria Island, Festac, and Ikeja.
The inauguration of Rumors Signature promised to be an amazing night of enjoyment for every NightLife fan in Nigeria, according to Temidayo Kafaru, the exuberant Chief Operations Officer Rumors Victoria Island.
Olamide and many other significant personalities in Nigeria’s music industry were in attendance on Wednesday, August 30th, 2017 (Soft Opening), as excitement builds for Friday, September 1st, 2017 (Grand Opening) and Saturday, September 2nd, 2017 (Sallah Party).
The brand new 220 million Rumors Signature features cutting-edge amenities such as the best DJ equipment, a luxurious finish, and the most up-to-date LED lighting in the world.
The smoke machine, C02, Bubble, and LED stair railings are the most recent additions. Rumors Signature’s elegant decor is praised by customers, and the slick white, colourful leather booths give the venue a VVIP feel. Also, inside Rumors Signature is the exclusive Dancers Boot and the Ultra VIP lounge, which is a wonderful draw.
Expansion of the Rumors Night Club?
Thanks to the success of his “Rumors Club” in Ikeja and Festac Town, famous music star Innocent Idibia, commonly called as 2Baba, is expanding his business by opening a new branch in Victoria Island.
Temidayo L. Kafaru, the mastermind behind TLK’s famous saloon in Festac Town, runs the club, which is housed in a comfortable environment on Akin Adesola Street, Tetrazzini building.
Wizkid, Selebobo, Tekno, Timaya, VJ Ehiz, Shina Peller, Annie Idibia, and others were among those who attended the soft opening ceremony, which took place months ago amid excitement.
